A couple years ago I shot photos at a Bat Mitzvah. Before the party the family wanted some shots done at their Synagogue. This was taken shortly after we were done.

Pre-Construction Bauer

The Bauer building has been under construction for quite a while but it has finally gotten to the point where tenants are moving in. It's about 80% occupied now.

I got my hands on some tungsten slide film a while back so I decided to purposefully shoot outdoors to get the cyan cast over the photos. This was shot during the warmer months at city hall.

Rust

This is an old water tower near downtown Kitchener that was recently the centre of a debate on whether it should be removed or not. From what I remember most of the residents wanted it gone because they thought it was a bit of an eyesore. I, for one, enjoy rusted old structures.

We got some messy rain storms in the summer of 2008. This road was closed after this storm but there were a few people that thought their 6 inches of clearance on their sedans was enough. There was a lot of water there so I'm pretty sure it wasn't.

Lang on Charles

The bottom section of the Lang Building seen here has been demolished for a parking lot. The good thing about this is that the remainder of the building is being renovated into office and studio space so the new parking lot was sort of necessary for the eventual tenants.

Waterloo Park has a number of small animal pens, one of which includes these peacocks. If I remember correctly they once had bears here.

I'm not really a car buff so I don't know what model this is. Something tells me it's a really old Vovlo but I'm not sure. Whatever it is, it was worthy of having it's photo taken.

The Seagram's Lofts

These are located in Uptown Waterloo and I believe they were one of the first (if not the first) projects of this type built in the area. I've only been inside once but have taken photos outside many times. I was on the top floor of a parking garage on King Street when I shot this.

The Dog Park

I used to go here somewhat regularly with my parent's dog, Daisy. She hasn't been here in a while only because of the fact that she seriously hurt her leg a while back and needed surgery. Part of me is far too paranoid to let her run full tilt for fear that she'll hurt herself again.

I recently came across this building in the Bridgeport area of Kitchener. They're building a massive roundabout so a temporary detour has been made where you normally wouldn't even know this building was there. I'm planning on going back at some point to get some more shots.

This is part of the old Uniroyal building on Strange Street. It is now a different manufacturing plant. My dad worked here for 30 years so I've got a soft spot for it.

Canada Day

I went to Columbia Lake to shoot the fireworks for Canada Day. I've only done fireworks a handful of times and it's a little tricky if you're not careful. I did better tonight than any other time I've done them so I came home happy.

Pioneer Tower

Taken in the Doon area of Kitchener, this is one of the most famous structures in the city. It was taken very early in the morning (I'm going to guess around 6am) which is always a nice time of day to take photos. The downside is you have to be awake to do this.

Waterloo Park Water

One of the traditions in high school after x-country running practice was to dunk our heads in the fountain at Kitchener's Civic Square. I've recently started running a lot more but I have yet to take up this habit again.

Uptown Waterloo

This orange wall located in Uptown Waterloo is beautiful. It's right along the railroad tracks beside the Earthwinds store. It has served me well as a backdrop while doing wedding photos.

The Arrow Shirt Factory

The Arrow Shirt Factory has been in construction phase for what seems like years (they're being made into loft apartments). I had a tour of the building when I was in grade six and remember how many people and sewing machines the place had.

Victoria Park Submerged

This is Victoria Park around the same time as my last post. We got an unbelievable rain storm that flooded most parts of the park. For example, Snyder's Creek, which is usually a slow-moving stream, literally turned into rapids. The funny part about all this is that I was on my bike near Erbsville when the storm hit. When all was said and done I had myself a very clean bike.

St. Mary's Church

Last summer we had a few very strong rain storms; I shot this shortly after one of them. The structure you see at the bottom of the frame is the top of the bell tower of St. Mary's Catholic Church on Duke Street.

The Expressway

Foggy Intersection

This was taken a few years ago. It's up the street from where I live on the corner of East and Stirling Avenues. I absolutely love taking photographs on foggy nights. I tried a few different compositions here but this one is my favourite. The black and white also turned out better than the colour.

The Kaufman Building

The city began renovating the Kaufman building a few years ago. I went to visit the model suites while they were still up and was able to get a shot of the entrance seen here. They've done a very nice job fixing up the place, even if I still liked when it was rusting away at the corner of King and Victoria.
